One Oak Inc. is a design-build construction company in the ICI sector, focusing on restaurants and hospitality, office, and retail. Our goal is to be our clients’ design and construction concierge, guiding them through the entire process.

Position Summary

We’re seeking Project Managers in the Waterloo Region and GTA to join our team that will be responsible for overseeing projects multiple projects.  The successful candidate must possess experience, knowledge, and confidence in engaging with the client, consultants, and our internal team. This individual will work closely with Site Superintendents and fulfil an integral role in the project. They will report to the Director of Construction.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be problem solver, extremely detail oriented, structured, and most importantly be the type of person who truly cares about the work we do. We’re passionate about making things easy and smooth for our clients, and the Project Manager’s relationship with the client is key to success. This person must also be the kind of person who takes responsibility for managing everything that happens on their projects, and quickly finds solutions on the fly. They should be social and professional to build relationships with our subcontractors, consultants, and clients, acting as if they are selling the next project for One Oak.

Responsibilities

  • Ultimate responsibility for coordinating, planning, and executing work in accordance with the contract documents, schedule, and budget
  • Preparation of the project schedule
  • Hiring of all subcontractors and suppliers and negotiation of costs
  • Review the project plans and specifications, building design, and scheduling to identify cost saving measures and potential construction problems
  • Identify discrepancies, omissions, and errors contained within the Consultant’s drawings and address
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and consultants to determine specifications
  • Obtain permits and licenses as needed
  • Ultimate responsibility for construction standards and quality control
  • Control and monitor labour, material, and equipment expenses
  • Ensure that ‘as-built’ drawings are prepared on an ongoing basis by all trades
  • Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports
  • Ensure utilization of Procore PM software

Qualifications:

  • Ideally, 2 or more years experience as a Project Manager on new interior fit-up and renovations to commercial, retail, or industrial construction, although recent graduates with construction experience will be considered
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • PMP an asset
  • Procore knowledge is an asset
  • Degree in engineering, building science, or relevant field

We’re seeking Site Supervisors in the Waterloo Region and GTA to join our team that will be responsible for overseeing all trades and effectively managing daily on-site activities.  The successful candidate must possess experience, knowledge, and confidence in engaging with the client, design professionals, and consultants. This individual will work closely with the Project Manager and fulfill an integral role in the project. They will report to the Director of Construction.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a problem solver, and most importantly be the type of person who truly cares about the work we do. We’re passionate about making things easy and smooth for our clients, and no one can affect that more than the Site Supervisor. This person must also be the kind of person who takes responsibility for managing everything that happens on their site, and looks to correct issues, regardless of the source. They should be social and professional to build relationships with our subcontractors, consultants, and clients, acting as if they are selling the next project for One Oak. The candidate needs to be understanding of the ebbs and flows of the role, as some periods require extra hours, and others less.

Responsibilities

  • Direct sub-contractors and other construction personnel in coordinating, planning, and executing work in accordance with the contract documents, schedule, and budget
  • Assist in the preparation of the project schedule and coordinate all subcontractors and suppliers
  • Review the project plans and specifications, building design, and scheduling to identify cost-saving measures and potential construction problems
  • Ensure quality or performance issues with subcontractors are dealt with professionally
  • Notify the Project Manager of discrepancies, omissions, and errors contained within the Consultant’s drawings
  • Maintain a safe job site and ensure that requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act are implemented and enforced
  • Maintain a clean and organized project site
  • Coordinate and direct independent testing and inspections as required
  • Maintain and enforce construction standards and quality control
  • Manage security and operation of equipment owned by One Oak
  • Control and monitor labour, material, and equipment expenses
  • Ensure that ‘as-built’ drawings are prepared on an ongoing basis by all trades
  • Prepare and manage the completion of project deficiency lists efficiently

Qualifications:

  • Ideally, 1 or more years experience as a Site Manager on new interior fit-up and renovations to commercial, retail, or industrial construction, although recent graduates with construction experience and blueprint technical competency will be considered
  • Must understand construction terms, scheduling, and planning concepts
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Certified WHIMS, Working at Heights, and ABC’s of Construction an asset
